Is Claude Fable 5.5 released?

No. As of 16 October 2026, none of the official Anthropic pages checked for this guide announces, names or dates Claude Fable 5.5. The newest model launch in the Claude release notes is Claude Haiku 5.5 on 7 October 2026. The models overview lists four current models: Claude Fable 5.1, Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Claude Haiku 5.5.

The newest Fable is Claude Fable 5.1, launched on 1 September 2026 together with Claude Mythos 5.1. Anthropic's Fable 5.1 model page labels it "Latest", and the Claude Fable family page says it is available to Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise users.

What is officially confirmed?

Launch dates come from the Claude release notes and model IDs from the Claude Platform release notes, whose newest entry (15 October 2026) does not mention Fable 5.5. Neither page has a Fable 5.5 entry. The newest model announcement in the Anthropic Newsroom is Haiku 5.5.

Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 have both since launched. The Sonnet 5.5 announcement named Haiku 5.5 before its launch. No Anthropic page checked for this guide names an upcoming Fable 5.5 in this way.

It describes Claude Fable 5.1 as being "for demanding reasoning and long-horizon agentic work, or when your evals on Claude Opus 5.5 at higher effort still fall short".
